Practical Protest

4SBB is now a historical document.
Symbolic of the desire to create better
bike infrastructure in Los Angeles.

We have freeways, why not have bikeways?

4th Street Bicycle Boulevard is an experiment.

It represents the collective desire of cyclists
in Los Angeles to see the implementation of a system
of so-called --->
"Bicycle Boulevards."

What this means:

An integrated transit network for bicyclists in
Los Angeles. Bike ways, bike lanes, bike blvds
and most simply SHARROWS.

We would like to see the CITY now take the initiative and create a REAL improvements on that road, as 4th street
is already a lovely route.

REPAVE THE ROAD.

*WHY 4TH STREET?*

As a road that is already used by cyclists crossing east-west between Hoover/Vermont and La Brea,
4th Street represents an important opportunity for the
City of Los Angeles to rise to the challenge
of creating better, safer streets.

With some minor tweaks to the current infrastructure and some sort of signage system, 4th street could indeed be called a "Bicycle Boulevard."

The actions taken in this experiment are intended to raise consciousness about the needs of cyclists who bravely face the sometimes mean streets of Los Angeles.
